The History of Honey Bear Gourmet

Honey Bear Fruit Basket Company was originally created out of the need to give employees an affordable, but tasteful holiday gift.  Fruit Baskets were made at Christmas time as gifts for the employees of the first owner who owned a wholesale produce company. The employees loved the fruit baskets and looked forward to receiving them every holiday. They received so many compliments on the baskets from employees and others too, that everyone told them they should start selling the fruit baskets.  So, they took their advice and started selling fruit baskets in 1995.  Our "Honey Bear" name comes from the original logo of the wholesale produce company, Mrs. Condies Salad Company, which has been in business in the Denver area for over 50 years.  Carrots, celery, and spinach are still marketed under the Honey Bear logo in most of the major supermarket chains in the Colorado area.


Colorado Pine Gift Basket Company and Gift Shop has also been producing fine Gift Baskets since 1992. The Colorado Pine Gift Shop was located onWard Road in Wheat Ridge for 13 years, and Ralston Road in Arvada for the next three years.  In May of 2007 Honey Bear Fruit Basket Company and Colorado Pine merged and moved to the Honey Bear location near I 25 and 58th Avenue.  Colorado Pine hosted a charming Gift Shop for Colorado residents and visitors for over 15 years.  Due to the economic turn down at the end of 2008 we decided to close our commercial public location until the economy improves.  We do hope to have another retail store soon.

Although we specialize primarily in Colorado made food and gifts, we also include other fine products made in the good old U.S.A. !  You can choose from dozens of gift and food items and we will create a Custom Handcrafted Gift Basket for you.  Many of our customers purchase our products branded with Colorado to send as gifts, to keep as personal mementos or when they travel to give as a thank you.  These types of gifts are perfect for everyone and are fondly cherished by the recipients for many years to come.  We love living in the State of Colorado and we are very proud to support the diverse and talented Colorado artisans and businesses who create some of the best tasting food and handcrafted products in our Country.
